Straight answers about DUIs, licenses and tickets

After a stop

What should I do first after a DUI arrest?

Find the notice about your license and check the deadline on it. Then call a lawyer before that date. Don't talk about the case with anyone else, including on social media.

Should I have taken the breath test?

That choice is already made, and either way there's a defense to look at. A refusal usually brings its own suspension and hearing, which we can handle.

Will this go on my record?

A DUI conviction usually stays on your driving record for a long time, and may be a criminal record too. That's why it's worth checking the case before any plea.

Your license

How long do I have to ask for a license hearing?

Not long. The deadline is printed on the notice you were given and depends on your state. Call us with that notice in hand.

Can I keep driving while the case is open?

Often, until a suspension begins. If one does, a limited license may let you drive to work or school.

I drive for a living. What's different for me?

Commercial drivers face stricter limits and fewer ways to reduce a charge. Pakou Xiong in our Oshkosh office handles most of these cases.

Tickets

Is it worth fighting a speeding ticket?

Sometimes. If it would push you toward a suspension or raise your insurance a lot, often yes. We'll tell you if it isn't.

Do I have to go to court for a ticket?

For many tickets, we can go for you. Reckless driving and driving after suspension usually need you there.

Working with us

What does the consult cost?

Nothing. If you hire us, we quote one fee for the case in writing before you sign.

Can I meet on a Saturday?

Yes. All three offices see clients on Saturday mornings, by appointment.
